In 1997, Dennis and Paula O'Brien and their two young sons were sitting in a restaurant waiting for their meal. The boys were given an activity page to color, but soon became distracted and started playing with the condiments. Within moments a tower of cream containers was built in the center of the table and then collapsed, some falling onto the floor. The diners in the booth next to them glared disapprovingly.

Finding a better way!

A year later Dennis and his neighbor Ernie, a lifetime illustrator with Disney and Looney Tunes experience, were sitting at a kitchen table talking about the lack of good quality kids entertainment in many restaurant chains. They decided to develop some vibrant, fun-filled kids placemat designs and see if there was any interest in a product that would keep kids of all ages seated and entertained as well as promote the restaurant's brand and dining experience.

Once ready, Dennis and Ernie took some samples to their first restaurant show and set up a small booth. There was instant interest! Within months they had printed their first order of custom kids menu booklets for A&W Restaurants.

Rapid growth and expanding horizons!

Operating initially under the name TableToyz, the company soon began hiring more employees to keep up with demand. By the third year of business, inquiries were coming in from a wide range of potential clients outside the restaurant industry. They were looking for similar expertise in the production of custom kids promotional materials, including educational kids coloring books and activity books. Realizing that partnerships with organizations such as the Produce For Better Health (PBH) Foundation and NCAA Basketball added scope and substance to overall product development, the company decided to change to a name that would more accurately describe their service to a broader range of clients.

In 2006 the company rebranded under the name Kidzsmart Concepts Inc. The company also has a branch operation in the U.K., which focuses on the European market. Both operations benefit by sharing the best ideas for creating signature family experiences from the vibrant, yet different, markets on either side of the Atlantic.
